Google broke ground on 2 June 2026 on a data center in Horndal designed for off-site heat recovery; it said it was already working with nearly 60 Swedish suppliers for construction and expects thousands of jobs via construction and suppliers.
atNorth confirmed (23 Feb 2026) plans for a 300 MW data center at Hamre Industrial Park in Långsele, Sollefteå, on a 50-hectare zoned plot, expected operational in H1 2028.
atNorth announced (29 Jan 2026) SWE02, a 30 MW metro data center near its SWE01 site in Stockholm, with heat reuse in collaboration with Stockholm Exergi.
Mistral AI and EcoDataCenter announced an AI-focused data center in Sweden with a reported $1.4 billion investment, slated to launch in 2027 (reported by Data Center Knowledge, March 2026).
atNorth plans FIN05 on a 28.6-hectare site in Salo, Finland: first phase 75 MW with secured power and a path to 230 MW; investment estimated at about €2 billion (reported 5 Oct 2026).
Cerebras and Compute Nordic Finland announced an AI data centre in Mikkeli scaling in phases to 165 MW of contracted IT capacity, with construction of the initial 50 MW phase already under way (reported 1 Sep 2026).
Google will invest €13 billion in Finnish digital infrastructure across 2027–2028, including data centers in Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala; Google estimates around 16,000 construction jobs (reported 16 Sep 2026). Update 12 Oct 2026: Finland's supervisory agency LVV ordered Google's local company Tuike Finland to suspend, by 23 Oct 2026 at the latest, preparatory works at Muhos and Kajaani that significantly alter the environment until the environmental impact assessment is done.
US-based Applied Digital secured access to up to 1 GW of potential power capacity in Finland for an AI Factory campus; initial power availability anticipated from 2028 (reported 6 Oct 2026). Exact site not stated in the report.
Construction has begun on DDC1 at the Port of Esbjerg, described as Denmark's first large Danish-owned data center, owned by PensionDanmark, Thylander Group and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (reported 25 Aug 2026).
Nscale, Aker and OpenAI's AI data center at Kvandal near Narvik: initial 230 MW build-out with expansion potential to 520 MW, closed-loop direct-to-chip liquid cooling; a 50/50 Nscale–Aker joint venture.
Mo i Rana rezoned part of T1 Energy's Giga Arctic campus for possible data center use; T1 expects a 50 MW data center could be operational in 2027, with a grid-queue position for 396 MW in total (reported 28 Sep 2026).

Verne has started building the first 70 MW of its data center campus in the Kapuli area of Mäntsälä, Finland (reported June 2026).
NYAB Finland has signed for the first stage of early works (site preparation and infrastructure) on a planned data center campus in Utajärvi, developed by Data Tank Nordic. In full, it would have four data halls and 200 MW. Work starts immediately.
Skanska is building an expansion of atNorth's FIN02 data center in Espoo under a EUR 100M contract: a new five-storey building of about 11,200 m², including fit-out. Work began in April 2026, with completion expected in Q3 2027.
YIT will design and build a new data center for atNorth's FIN04 campus in Myllykoski, Kouvola (about EUR 300M; design, civil/structural/architectural, MEP and commissioning). Construction begins immediately, with completion expected by the end of 2027. The campus is planned for 430 MW.
French AI infrastructure firm Sesterce plans a €10bn+ campus on the former Kaipola paper mill site in Jämsä, starting at 200 MW with works planned to start in 2026 and a second phase to 600 MW. About 2,000 people are expected to work on construction, and Sesterce says it will work primarily with Finnish contractors and subcontractors.
Greensky Energy Oy plans a data center at Hankaanmaa in Korvenkylä, about 6 km south-west of central Huittinen. The draft local plan, on display 10 Sep – 9 Oct 2026, aims to allow a data center of about 250 MW plus energy infrastructure on a site of about 62.9 ha.
Imatra city council approved on 5 Oct 2026 a land lease to project company NordVire for a data center of about 130 MW in Korvenkanta's Mionipuisto: two data center buildings and a substation on about 30 ha, plus an area for waste-heat use. NordVire must apply for a building permit within a year.
A development reservation has been applied for to build a data center in Heikinlaakso (Suurmetsä), Helsinki, on a site of about 7.3 ha beside Lahdenväylä; a building of about 21–30 m height is envisaged and a local plan change is required (City of Helsinki, 22 Apr 2026).
Mustanlahden Datakeskus Oy plans up to 10 data center buildings, backup generators, a substation and possibly battery storage on about 40 ha in Mustanlahti, about 3 km south-east of central Mänttä. The environmental impact assessment (YVA) is pending; comments are open until 30 Oct 2026.
The Lupa- ja valvontavirasto (LVV) issued its reasoned conclusion on the EIA report for a data center in Keskikylä, Pyhäjoki: 4–10 data center buildings on a site of about 240 ha, powered from the national grid via the Valkeus substation.
A data center is planned in Iisalmi's Tervamäki–Romonmäki area, about 9 km east of the town centre. Its EIA programme can be viewed until 2 Nov 2026, with a public presentation on 21 Oct 2026.
KSFR Junnikangas DC Oy (backed by Semecon and Korkia) has reserved about 11 ha in Ylivieska's Junnikangas industrial area and is studying a data center of about 100–200 MW in 2027–2028, valued at €1–2.5 billion; it depends on grid capacity and later investment decisions.
Developer Aurinkokarhu plans a 60 MW data center in Finby, Närpiö (Närpes), with a pre-agreement on 18 ha of land and a letter of intent to feed waste heat to Närpiö district heating; construction would employ about 100 people.
Isojoki municipality and Isojoki Data Center Oy signed a letter of intent in December 2025 for an 80 MW data center (reported by Yle, June 2026).
Kristiinankaupunki (Kristinestad) has signed a pre-reservation agreement with a Norwegian-British data center operator and has zoned 270 ha for a data center (reported by Yle, June 2026).
DigitalLand Services Kinetic DC Oy (owned by DayOne) submitted the EIA programme for a data center at Sudentulli, Klaukkala, in southern Nurmijärvi: five data center buildings on about 96 ha with about 560 MW of electrical power, connected by 2 × 400 kV to Fingrid's future Passanmäki substation.
Liperi municipality negotiated leasing and selling about 9 ha in the new Välikangas industrial area to Norwegian-British operator Scale42. The first phase is planned at 60 MW with a cost estimate of €800 million; construction would start in early 2027 at the earliest.
Developer Helios 5 Lingonberry has filed a zoning initiative for a data center about 15 km south-east of central Veteli, on a 285 ha site, to connect to Fingrid's planned Laurinneva substation.
Glesys and Trevian Asset Management signed an agreement to build Campus Oulu, an AI-ready data center campus in Oulu with long-term potential of up to 300 MW; the first phase of about 8 MW is expected in use in autumn 2026.
Polarnode Keminmaa Oy plans the Sarvenmaa data center in Keminmaa, near Fingrid's Viitajärvi substation, with grid connection via Tornio; its EIA programme was announced by LVV on 12 Aug 2026 (as cited by SLL Lapland).
Microsoft plans a large data center on the Vaasa–Mustasaari border: about 180 ha with six data center buildings, an administration building and three transformer stations, expected to employ 900 people in operation; LVV decided no full EIA is required (Yle, June 2026).
Groundworks have started for a data center at Kymin Ruukki (the former UPM mill area) in Kuusankoski, Kouvola, developed by Nova Complex; the site workforce was expected to rise to hundreds over summer 2026, with the building finished around Christmas.
YIT and XTX Markets signed a contract for the frame and shell of XTX's third data center in Kajaani, with YIT as main contractor; construction starts in summer 2026 (contract value not disclosed).
Fortum is developing about 60 ha in Pispantalli, Valkeakoski, for data center use with the city; the city is drawing up a local plan while Fortum starts an EIA, whose programme is due in late October 2026. The investment itself would be made by a data center operator.
Wind developer Tuulikolmio plans a large data center on an 85 ha site near highway 5, about 3 km from the Pelkosenniemi village centre; it would employ 30–80 people and hundreds during construction. The site has no local plan yet.
Rauma city board was to decide on 21 Sep 2026 on agreements with Fortum for the Lakari data center area, a project area of about 230 ha; the local plan was approved on 27 Apr 2026 and became legally valid in June 2026. The decision does not yet mean construction starts.
Pure DC, with Finnish partner SDC Ventures, is starting the first 110 MW phase (over €1.5 billion) of a Seinäjoki campus that can grow to over 550 MW (over €7.5 billion in total). The first phase is fully leased, and permits, grid solutions and the substation are in place; more than 1,500 construction jobs are expected.
Caira Consulting Oy proposes a local plan west of Hummastinvaara in Raahe for a data center of about 200 MW with battery storage, on about 70 ha near highway 8. Raahe received this and a second data center zoning initiative in September 2026.
CompassForge Ventures, with Ecogrid.Energy and NCC, plans the €1bn Ecogrid Energy Park on a 37 ha plot in Pori's former copper industrial park: a data center with a first phase of 150 MW and up to 300 MW in total, plus a hydrogen or biogas power plant (DCD, Jan 2025).
Hämeenlinna signed a reservation for three plots (149,795 m²) in its MORE industrial park for a data center of up to 120 MW; the buyer, a Nordic ownership group linked to Baltic General Power Company, is seeking an operator (DCD, Nov 2025).
Vaasa's building committee approved a construction permit application from FCDC for a 66,000 m² campus with two data center buildings at Kuriiritie 7 in GigaVaasa (Laajametsä); construction is planned to start in 2026, with commissioning in 2028–2029 (DCD, Dec 2025).
FCDC is developing a data center at Hietavaara, about 10 km outside Rovaniemi near the Valajaskoski power plant, of up to 500 MW and about 180,000 m²; construction is set to start in 2027 with go-live in 2029 (DCD, May 2025).
Lahti's building and environment committee granted an exception permit and a building permit on 16 Sep 2026 for a data center in Kujala, applied for by Peab Oy; the building has a gross floor area of just over 37,000 m². Construction can begin once the permits are legally valid.
Kitee city board granted an exception permit for Scale42's AI data center in the Suorlahti industrial area at Puhos, on about 10 ha leased from the city; the plans include liquid cooling, a 110 kV substation and a total floor area of 61,090 m². A local plan change is being prepared.
Valorem Energies Finland and the city of Savonlinna prepared a zoning agreement for a data center campus on 32 ha in the Nätki industrial area: a first phase of 30–50 MW from 2028, growing to more than 100 MW by 2032.
Nebius is building a data center in Lappeenranta offering up to 310 MW on about 100 acres of industrial land, with first capacity expected in 2027; about 700 jobs during construction (DCD, Mar 2026).
Bitdeer's Tydal Data Center is being converted into an AI colocation site with 180 MW of gross capacity, with completion expected as early as Dec 2026. Data Center Installations AS (Sparc Group) is the design and construction partner (Mar 2026).
atNorth's DEN01 in Ballerup, Greater Copenhagen, is a 22.5 MW metro data center due to open in Q1 2026. From 2028 its surplus heat will go to Vestforbrænding's district heating, enough for more than 8,000 homes.
atNorth is developing its DEN02 data center campus in Ølgod. Selected Group will use the campus's surplus heat for an adjacent greenhouse development, with the first phase expected in Q3 2028 (Aug 2026).
Bulk Infrastructure closed a EUR 410 million senior secured loan in Nov 2025 for further expansion of its N01 Data Center Campus in Vennesla, outside Kristiansand, aimed at AI demand.
